I seem to be attracted to the more graphic hardier plants, so in 2019 I found myself at a nursery in KZN when this lovely specimen caught my eye. At the time of choosing this plant to paint, I had no idea that the mulitude of thorns or variations of greens would pose the challenge that it did. It took a long time to finish but I really enjoyed the process

Description

Gail began her career as a graphic designer. Only after being introduced to botanical art in 2017 did she find another medium in which she could totally immerse herself. Since then she has taken part in numerous workshops. Gail has exhibited at the Botanical Art Worldwide exhibition, the Johannesburg Flower Show, the Reunion Island Biodiversity Conference and at the SABA Botanical Exhibitions of 2019 and 2020 in Moscow. Her work has been published in the Botanical Society of South Africa calendar for the past four years and her Strelitzia regina appears in the book, Strelitzias of the World.
