Farhat is a botanical artist and has been painting and drawing for 35 years during which time she has explored many mediums including oils, watercolour, graphite, pastel, glass and fabric painting. Initially, she worked on her own after which she completed a course in the fundamentals of fine arts in 1999 from the North Light Art School in Colombia, Ohio. In 2006 she started formal botanical art training with Miriam Stern and also completed a diploma from The Society of Botanical Art in 2015. Dried seed pods, because of their warm and earthy colours, are Farhat’s favourite subject matter.
