While visiting the S Camp in the Kruger Park a few years ago, dozens of Impala Lilies were in flower. While my sister rested, I could not resist starting a drawing. The conspicuous five lobed flowers have glaringly pink margins. I have not seen many of the velvety pods before. When it dehisced, it revealed a mass of tufted seed.

Description

Gillian Condy has been a prolific freelance botanical artist for over 40 years, having participated in over 160 exhibitions. Her artwork sits in many prestigious collections around the world including the Highgrove and Transylvanian Florilegium, two Sydney Botanical Gardens, Chelsea Physic Gardens, the Grootbos Florilegium, the Shirley Sherwood, Royal Botanic Gardens and Hunt Institute collections. Gillian was employed by the South African National Biodiversity Institute for close to 35 years. She is one of the founding members of BAASA.
